The Parish of St John Fisher: Who we are

The Parish of St John Fisher was founded by Bishop Philip Egan, the Bishop of Portsmouth, on the 8th September 2018, the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is a personal parish of the Diocese of Portsmouth, established to serve as a spiritual home for those attached to the traditional rites of the Church. All its Masses and Sacraments are celebrated in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, often known as the Traditional Latin Mass.

The Parish is staffed by priests of the Priestly Fraternity of St Peter (FSSP), which is a clerical Society of Apostolic Life founded by Pope St John Paul II in 1988. The FSSP has been active in the UK since 1998 and its priests are devoted exclusively to the traditional Liturgy of the Roman Rite. It currently numbers about 300 priests worldwide and 150 seminarians.

Until a permanent home can be found for the Parish, all Masses, unless otherwise noted, take place at St William of York Church, 46 Upper Redlands Road, Reading.
